Mauricio Lorca is a transatlantic winemaker, working with vineyards in the high Andes of Argentina as well as the verdant valleys of Galicia in north-west Spain. This tasting is a chance to meet the maker and discover wines that go beyond the familiar.
If Argentina is known for any grape it is Malbec, but Mauricio’s vineyards and wines reveal another story. The South-American lineup for this tasting sees a wine list that includes ripe, concentrated but remarkably fresh Cabernet Sauvignon and juicy Cabernet Franc as well as elegant, expressive whites and red blends that bring the best out of a range of grape varieties.
The story of the Spanish selection is one of native grapes allowed to shine. Godello, with its beautiful structure, is earning a Burgundian reputation. Mencia shows a delightful and surprising versatility, both as a red wine with silky tanins and as a cherry-bright rosé.
This will be a sit-down masterclass with a curated range of wines to taste.
